In Sanskrit, chakra translates to spinning wheel or disc. The seven main chakras are positioned along the midline of the body from the base of the spine to the crown of the head. These spinning discs of energy interact with the physical body and correlate with different organs, endocrine glands and nerve cells. Each chakra is represented by different colours and symbols; elements; mantras; and are associated with particular parts of the body. When the chakras are open, energy can pass through them easily, creating harmony and balance.
